About NeuroJoy

Hi, I’m Alex Zuck, the founder and lead occupational therapist at NeuroJoy. With years of education and experience in healthcare, I’ve worked closely with school-aged children with a variety of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit disorder (ADD + ADHD), and sensory processing disorder (SPD). I earned my Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2018 and became licensed in California, working with adults in public-health as a part of my clinical doctorate (OTD). In 2019 I graduated my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy and began my career in the special-education field. Over the years, I’ve seen the many challenges families face when trying to access and provide the therapy their child needs.

At NeuroJoy, my purpose is simple: help children and families and bridge gaps in care and ensure no child is left behind. I created NeuroJoy because I believe every child deserves high-quality, personalized healthcare and education that helps them thrive. Traditional insurance-based and school-based therapy often come with limitations —time constraints, lack of resources, turnover, lack of knowledge, overwhelming systems, and a lack of individualized attention—which can leave children and their families feeling unheard and unsupported.

That’s why I developed NeuroJoy alongside a platform for parents, designed to provide education, and guidance after therapy sessions to support their child’s growth outside of direct therapy. My goal is to provide a satisfying experience that equips families with the education and skills to navigate growth while celebrating success along the way.

I also created NeuroJoy to support struggling families accessing special-education services. As a school-based occupational therapist for many years, I understand how frustrating it is when your child isn’t being offered what they truly need. I offer independent educational evaluations, IEP advocacy, and IEP consultations. I work closely with families and schools to ensure children have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential in the educational environment.

Let’s work together to create the brightest future for your child.

Services

  • Prospective clients receive a free 15-minute screening to determine if NeuroJoy is the right fit for your family. Not sure how to best support your child? I offer consultative sessions and reports to provide education, guidance, and support. While general, the goal of these sessions is to empower parents with knowledge, strategies, tools, and feedback to help navigate their child’s needs and foster growth at home, school, and beyond, without a one on one therapy commitment.

  • NeuroJoy offers standard and comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for motor development, adaptive skills and sensory-processing. These are tailored to your child’s needs, including school-based IEE evaluations. Evaluations provide a comprehensive understanding of your child’s unique strengths and areas of need. Through evidence-based assessments and parent collaboration, we uncover key insights into sensory, motor, social-emotional, and academic functioning. This detailed process helps us create a personalized plan of care, ensuring your child receives the targeted support they need to thrive.

  • We provide direct therapy sessions for those local to Los Angeles as well as teletherapy in Oregon and California.

Therapy sessions are tailored to your child’s unique needs, focusing on skill development in areas such as sensory processing, executive functioning emotional regulation, motor skills, and social interaction.

  • Navigating school services can be overwhelming, especially if your child is struggling or their needs aren’t being met. We provide support to parents through IEP meetings, requesting accommodations, advocacy, and consultation, ensuring your child receives the resources and supports they need to thrive in the classroom. Whether you're confused about the process or need help advocating for your child to get the resources they deserve, we’re here to guide you every step of the way, bridging the gap between home and school for a cohesive support plan.
